The Barrister | 214-216 E. 9th

The Barrister is a mixed-use building being co-developed by Over-the-Rhine Community Housing and Urban Sites. The project will be the first dedicated affordable housing development within the Central Business District in over two decades.

Located at 214-216 E 9th St, this project involves the renovation of two historic buildings into 44 dedicated affordable units. All units will be affordable to households making 60% or less than Area Median Income. In addition, 15% of units will be reserved for households making 30% or less than Area Median Income. On the first floor, over 2,000 SF of commercial space will be created to enliven the area and serve residents.

With the continuing redevelopment of the Central Business District, this site will offer affordable units within walking distance of countless new economic opportunities, including the new Kroger store on Court St. OTR Community Housing will provide an off-site Resident Service Coordinator to assist residents with training, counseling, and after-school programming. Construction is expected to be complete in late 2023.
